Younger than 20?

If you are younger than 20, you can go to Swedish upper secondary school. There are 18 national programs in the upper secondary school, of which 12 are vocational. A vocational program is where you’ll learn a profession from the ground, by real professionals. After graduation, most people are employable and can start work right away.

Child and Recreation Program:

The Child Care and Recreation program is for you who want to work with children, youth and adults. You learn about people in different ages and with different conditions.

The program has two majors:
Leisure time and health
Pedagogics and social work

 

Construction and Installation Program:

The Construction and Installation program is for you who want to work with the construction, maintenance and renovation of buildings and installations.

The program has five majors:
Heavy plant vehicles
Groundwork and civil engineering works
Building construction
Painting
Sheet metal

Electrical and Energy Program

The Electrical and Energy program targets those of you who want to work with electrical installations, systems for automated production, energy, environmental and hydro engineering or computers and communication.

The program has four majors:
Automation
Computer and communications engineering
Electrical engineering
Energy engineering

Vehicle and Transport Program

The Vehicle and Transport program targets those of you who want to work with different types of vehicles and transports. You will diagnose, repair and service different types of vehicles.

The program has four majors:
Body work and painting
Trucks and mobile machines
Cars
Transport

Sales and customer service programme

The sales and customer service programme is for those who want to work with sales, marketing, and product management.

Handicraft Program

The Handicraft program targets those of you who want to use your hands and work in the creative industries. You can choose handicraft in many different industries.

The program has five majors:
Cabinet making
Florist
Hairdresser, barber, hair and makeup stylist.
Textile design
Other handicraft

Hotel and Tourism Program

The Hotel and Tourism program targets those of you who want to work with tourism, travel, hotel and conference activities.

Industry Engineering Program

The Industry Engineering program targets those of you who want to work with e.g. product development, operational safety and welding within the engineering industry. You will learn to handle engineering systems.

The program has four majors:
Operational safety and maintenance
Process engineering
Product and mechanical engineering
Welding

Natural Resources Program

The Natural Resources program targets those of you who want to work with plants, animals, land, water or forests.

The program has six majors:
Animals
Agriculture
Forestry
Gardening
Horse keeping
Nature tourism

Restaurant and Food Program

The Restaurant and Food program targets those of you who want hands-on work in the professions related to mealtimes close to customers and guests, for example in restaurants, bakeries and stores.

The program has two majors:
Baking and confectionery
Kitchen and service

Sanitary, Heating and Property Program

The Sanitary, Heating and Property program targets those of you who want to work with the engineering systems in buildings that are responsible for heating, cooling, ventilation, water and waste and property service.

The program has four majors:
Property maintenance
Cooling and heat pumps
Sanitary and heating
Ventilation engineering

Care and Treatment Program

The Care and Treatment program targets those of you who want to work in health care, psychiatrics and geriatrics and with people with disabilities.
